Nutritional Counseling

Nutritional Services

We have many nutritional resources for you including our Recipe of the Week available in the Center and on our Facebook page. So whether you have special dietary concerns or simply want to improve your health and energy level, nutritional counseling at the Wellness Center can help. Sessions may include:

  • Reviewing current food intake and nutritional assessment.
  • Creating a balanced diet by controlling portions, reading and understanding food labels, and preparing healthy snacks and meals.
  • Focusing on lifestyle habits you can change to improve your health, whether you’re dealing with chronic disease conditions and/or food allergies.
  • Reviewing dietary supplements. Given the many choices of vitamins and other supplements, we will help you sort out ingredients, dosage and a proper regimen.

Consultations

Nutritional analysis for weight loss and weight-maintenance programs, or other specific health or fitness needs, is available.

We require a credit card to hold appointments.

Please provide a 24-hour notice for reschedules or cancellations in order to avoid a full-service charge. Call 724.250.5207 to schedule.

Individual

First-time participants must complete an initial one-hour visit.

Initial visit: $55, members; $65, non-members

Follow-up: $30, members; $40, non-members

Individual Packages

Five 30-minute follow-up sessions (expire 6 months after purchase)

$125, members; $175, non-members (a savings of $25)

Ten 30-minute follow-up sessions (expire 12 months after purchase)

$220, members; $320, non-members (a savings of $80)

Couples*

First-time participants must complete an initial one-hour visit.

Initial visit: $90, members; $110, non-members

Follow-up: $40, members; $50, non-members

*Couples must share the same residence and/or be related.

Couples Packages

Five 30-minute follow-up sessions (expire 6 months after purchase)

$175, members; $225, non-members (a savings of $25)

Ten 30-minute follow-up sessions (expire 12 months after purchase)

$320, members; $420, non-members (a savings of $80)

FitStops

$10 per session, members only.

You must have had an initial one-hour visit prior to scheduling.

Private 15-minute follow-up to review your meal plan and keep you on track.

Walk-in Appointments for 15-minute Nutritional Consults

  • Body Mass Index
  • Body Fat %
  • Estimated calorie needs
  • Individual questions

Cost: $10 per consult

Jacqueline Ely, RD, LDN

Jacqueline ClemonsJacqueline is a Registered Dietitian certified through the Commission on Accreditation for Dietetics Education (CADE) of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (ADA). She completed a bachelor’s degree in dietetics at Indiana University of Pennsylvania. Jacqueline serves on the Board of Directors for the Main Street Farmer’s Market in Washington and is a Master Gardener in training through the Penn State Master Gardener program.

LuAnn J. Scarton, RD, LDN

Hillary Standiford With more than 12 years of experience in nutrition and health sciences, LuAnn has a passion for educating children and families about healthful food choices and keeping active. Her goal is to help clients achieve improved health, weight management and an overall sense of well-being. LuAnn has worked as both a manager and a clinician in a variety of clinical healthcare and foodservice settings in Pennsylvania, West Virginia and Georgia, and also has a diverse background in diabetes, cardiovascular disease and weight-management education. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Clinical Dietetics & Nutrition from the University of Pittsburgh School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences. She completed her internship at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center Montefiore. 

Sheila Burcin, MS, RD

 Sheila earned a bachelor’s degree in human development from Penn State and a master’s in human nutriHillary Standifordtion from West Virginia University. A Registered Dietitian, she teaches the Highmark
Eat Well for Life Classes at the Wellness Center, helping participants learn to live healthier lifestyles. She previously supervised a community nutrition program and has volunteered extensively with the
Washington County Watershed Alliance and the
Chartiers Creek Watershed Association.

screenings for cholesterol (total lipid profile) and resting metabolic

Cholestech® Lipid Profile
Our full-panel, lipid profile is fast and easy, with results for total
cholesterol, HDL, LDL and triglyceride levels. For accurate results, do not eat for at least 12 hours before the test. Save $12 when you schedule a consult and screening together: $73, members; $83, non-members. (Regular price: $85, members; $95, non-members). Test only, $30 per person.

Hemoglobin A1c Test
This test measures blood sugar control over a period of three months and is beneficial if you are trying to manage and/or prevent pre-diabetes or diabetes. May be performed at any time and only
takes about 15 minutes to complete. Save $12 when you schedule a consult and screening together: $68, members; $78, non-members. (Regular price: $80, members; $90, non-members.) Test only, $25 per person.

RMR Assessment
A simple breath test with the MedGem®, a handheld portable
indirect calorimeter, determines your resting metabolic rate (RMR),
or how many calories you burn each day at rest. This measurement
helps to calculate the calories you should be consuming each day to
reach your goals. Save $12 when you schedule a consult and screening together: $88, members; $98, non-members. (Regular price: $100, members; $110, non-members). Test only, $45 per person.

Before your test:

  • Do not eat or exercise for at least four hours

  • Do not consume caffeine for four hours

  • Do not smoke or use nicotine for one hour
